Breakfast pizzas are the next big thing, according to Kara Foodservice, part of Finsbury Food Group.
Research conducted for Kara by global food trends agency, The Food People, said: “The popularity of brunch has led to a new wave of breakfast-style pizzas featuring classics like eggs and bacon to the millennial favourite, avocado.”
The Manchester-based foodservice group said breakfast pizzas were already on sale at London Luton Airport, but were set to be big business across the UK in the coming year.
American business magazine Forbes listed breakfast pizza as one of its Top 5 Food Trends for 2017, and dough-based brunches are already a popular choice across the pond.
Through its Twitter channel this week, Kara suggested using its sourdough doughballs to make the most of the opportunity: “With breakfast pizzas set to be a new up-and-coming trend, stay ahead this year and add our sourdough doughballs to your menus.”
