David Amos has been appointed UK managing director for international bakery ingredients supplier Zeelandia.
Amos, who has held the position as managing director at Edme for the past 12 years, will commence his new role at the company’s UK base in Billericay, Essex in early September.
Speaking to British Baker, Amos said: “Zeelandia approached me in the first instance and, as opportunities like this don’t come up every day, it was the right time to join a company that is in such great shape. For me, it is a chance to do something slightly different in an industry I really love.
“The big attraction was to move to an international company and the fact that it had tremendous ambition to do things in the UK market and elsewhere. I’ve known the Zeelandia business for a long time through the exports market and admired them as a company.”
Richard Schrama, Zeelandia’s current UK managing director, said: “I am delighted David is joining the Zeelandia team in this exciting time for the baking industry. We look forward to David bringing his experience and further building on our ambitious growth plans.”
Amos has worked at ingredients supplier Edme, in Manningtree, Essex, for around 20 years, holding roles such as quality assurance manager, operations manager and general manager. The company is currently recruiting for the managing director vacancy.
Amos is also president of the Association of Bakery Ingredient Manufacturers.
