A bakery student from The National Bakery School in London’s South Bank has been awarded the Rank Hovis Scholarship.
Simon Curran was selected as this year’s successful applicant and will receive a six-day tailor-made and all-expenses-paid course.
Curran will have the opportunity to explore various areas of the baking industry, visiting flour mills, testing centres, bakery sites, as well as the Rank Hovis technical department and head office.
The Scholarship, which is open to individuals 16 years old or above who are bakery students or employed in the industry, has been running since 2004.
Christopher Foxall, technical sales manager for Rank Hovis, said: “The standard of applicants was very high this year, but it was Simon’s passion, attitude and professionalism that earned his place as this year’s successful candidate. Congratulations to Simon and we look forward to welcoming him soon.”
