Edme, the bakery ingredients supplier and producer, has bolstered its technical support offering after recruiting two new managers to the team.

The company has appointed Bob Craddock as innovation manager and Russell Wheeler as technical sales manager, as part of a drive to build on the success of its new product development projects.

James Smith, sales director at Edme, said: “Our expertise in developing new applications for our wholegrain malt products is key to our client offering. This investment will ensure we continue to respond to the demand for tech consultancy, driving innovation for customers across the bakery sector and beyond.

“Bob and Russell have a wealth of experience, which complements our existing skill set, ensuring we are better positioned to support customers in identifying solutions for today’s consumer.”

With 17 years of technical experience, Craddock will be responsible for Edme’s NPD function, developing pilot trials through to full commercial production proposals. His previous experience includes innovation and technical roles at Whitworths, Smiths Flour Mills and cereal ingredients company Bowman Milling.

Wheeler draws on 10 years’ experience in technical sales management, providing insight on product benefits with a particular focus on speciality ingredients. He joins from Azelis Food Ingredient Technology and has worked with malted ingredients for around 11 years. The duo will join Edme’s technical baker, Richard Ball, who leads on product testing at the firm’s on-site test kitchen.
