Bakery ingredients supplier EDME is celebrating after winning a regional business award for its commitment to the rural community.
The company was named Rural Business of the Year at the Anglian Business Awards ceremony in Ipswich last week.
Entrants were judged on their contribution to the local economy and community, and their plans for the next five years.
EDME has been supplying bakery ingredients for more than 100 years. It employs more than 70 local people, and provides training opportunities, including NVQ qualifications, and buys £3m-worth of raw produce annually from local farmers.
David Amos, EDME managing director, said: “No-one could be more delighted to win this award. It’s a tribute to our work with local farmers, who provide quality raw ingredients and support us in developing new products for our customers.”
