The high street bakery chain, Greggs, is set to introduce a new gluten-free range later this year, the company’s chief executive has announced.
Roger Whiteside, chief executive of the high street bakery chain, said last week that a gluten-free range would be launched this year, alongside a number of other new lines and products. This came shortly after the group announced that like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 2.3% in the last quarter of 2015, in comparison to 6% in the same period a year earlier.
There will also be a new drinks menu, which will include flat white coffee and an improved mocha. Hot pots, the Lancashire favourite, are also now being trialled across 20 Greggs branches.
Greggs’ total sales for 2015 were up 5.2% year-on-year, with growth particularly strong in sandwiches, salads and drinks.
Whiteside said: “We are looking forward to another year of investment and change, and we want to make sure we have healthy options that are value for money.”

He added: “People are concerned about their diet and want to eat healthy choices.”
It is hoped the new lines and products will attract a larger share of the breakfast market.
