Welsh craft bakery the Village Bakery was named runner-up in Wales’ VQ Employer of the Year awards.
The Wrexham-based company was one of three finalists at the awards held on VQ Day - a national celebration of people who have achieved success in vocational education in Wales.
The company offers apprenticeships in bakery, engineering and accountancy, and supports the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Chartered Institute of Marketing professional development.
Last year’s intake of learners increased four-fold to 16 to keep pace with the growth of the business, which supplies bread, rolls and pies to customers across the country and exports some products to Europe.
Next month a new Skills Implementation Plan will ad focus on developing the skills of the workforce and increasing levels of skills investment.
