Scottish Bakers has launched an industry Bakers Export Group aimed at bakers in Scotland who are exporting or considering starting.
The group’s inaugural meeting was attended by association members, Andrew Campbell and Alan Clarke of Scottish Bakers, Susan Beattie of Scottish Development International (SDI) and John Brown, head of international for Clydesdale Bank.
Martin Lightbody of Lightbody Ventures will chair the Scottish Bakers Export Group. Scottish Bakers has been active in helping to develop the new food and drink export strategy for Scotland in partnership with the SDI.
Support
The strategy aims to support food and drink exporters in Scotland by helping with their market entry plans.
The association will contribute £15,000 a year for the next five years in partnership with the Scottish Government, SDi and other Scottish food and drink associations. The investment will facilitate the recruitment of key in-market specialists.
The Bakers Export Group will also offer advice on setting up an export arm and making it sustainable, trademarking, international finance and funding support as well as offering market insights to members.
