Tesco has recalled packs of its own-brand Tesco Chunky Chocolate Shortcakes 175g because of a failure to declare the presence of egg on the label.
The recall applies to packs with a best before date of 3 September 2016 and has been issued as the biscuits pose a threat to those with an egg allergy or intolerance. No other date codes are affected by the labelling issue.
Tesco is offering a full refund for products returned to the store, with or without a receipt of purchase.
Only two months ago, Tesco was forced to withdraw £93,000 worth of own-brand garlic bread in 290g packs, produced by Bakkavör Foods, after some were found to be underweight.
