2 Sisters Food Group has been accused of setting terms which were “beyond unreasonable” by a supplier.
The food manufacturer, which owns brands such as Fox’s Biscuits, has reportedly been paying suppliers after more than four months. The contract reportedly also stipulates the firm would get a 3% discount for paying within a 90 day period.
The terms and conditions document was revealed on BBC Newsnight, just a week after Premier Foods was shamed on the show for its controversial ‘pay and stay’ policy.
The document suggested the firm should not be made to pay for goods until the last working day of the third month.
It also stated that if the company were to pay within this period, it could be entitled to a ‘prompt settlement discount’ of 3%. If this option were rejected, suppliers could risk the default payment period to be extended to 120 days.
Under the EU Late Payment Directive, firms should not take more than 60 days to settle bills without explicit agreement from a supplier.
2 Sisters supplies supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Marks & Spencer.
