On the fifth day of the BIA 12 Days of Christmas feature, British Baker presents to you The Village Bakery’s view on 2015, and its delight with 2014.
The Village Bakery (Coedpoeth) has celebrated its 80th birthday and said winning the title of Bakery Manufacturer of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards was the perfect 80th anniversary present for the company.
The family run-firm, based in North Wales, has previously won the Craft Baker of the Year title three times and, in 2010, managing director Robin Jones was named Baker of the Year.
The foreseeable highlight for the bakery in 2015 so far will be the opening of a new Baking Academy and Innovation Centre, which is being built at its site on Wrexham Industrial Estate, with the aim of training the next generation of bakers to lay the foundations for future growth.
Jones said: “We are celebrating our 80th anniversary this year and being named Bakery Manufacturer of the Year was the perfect birthday present for us.
"It’s a great commendation for the staff. We have a passion and a commitment to making better products and we’ve got a great team here. Together, we try and improve things all the time – we are never content to rest on our laurels.
“The Baking Academy and Innovation Centre will lay the foundation for our future growth.
“Success is not something that happens overnight. This is something that goes back many years and our business model is one that works. We are confident that if we work hard and give the customers what they want, we will continue to grow and prosper as a business.”
