Campden BRI has launched a series of training workshops designed to keep those in the food industry aware of the latest and most up-to-date legislation.
The independent food research organisation based in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, is hosting a training course on Thursday 6 September that will focus on the Weights and Measures Act and subsidiary regulations.
The workshop will include content on packer and importer responsibilities, marker requirements, setting up a control system, day-to-day control of production and offences, penalties and due diligence. It will be led by Howard Burnett, a former trading standards officer.
Campden BRI will also be holding an interactive Food Information Regulation workshop on Tuesday 25 September. It will offer practical advice on revamped nutrition labelling, extended origin labelling and specific legibility provisions, as well as revised and extended allergen labelling requirements.
The firm’s Introduction to Food Law course on 9-10 October will also look at the Food Safety Act and General Food Law Regulation, as well as weights and measures, trademarks and other intellectual property, and product liability and general product safety.
Other areas will also be reviewed including compositional standards, additives, residues, contaminants and contact materials, organic, novel and GM foods and food hygiene.
