Carr’s Milling Industries is to change its name, in order to better reflect the broad operations the company runs.

The firm has proposed that it is known as Carr’s Group, due to its diversity “in both its geography and operations”.

A company general meeting (GM) is to be held on 31 March to discuss the name change, where the board will consider the proposal, and pass the name change should they see fit.

A company notice of the GM read: “The board believes that it is important to retain the heritage of the company and therefore the Carr’s name. However, ‘Milling Industries’ is not descriptive of the diverse and international business that the company has become. To keep the name of the company strong and simple, shareholder approval is sought to change the name to Carr’s Group plc.”

Carr’s will announce its half-year report on Monday 13 April 2015.
