Surrey-based family baker and confectioner Coughlans Bakery opened its 25th store this week, in Lingfield.
The third-generation bakery firm has branches across London and Surrey. Established in 1937, it was crowned ‘Britain’s Champion Bakery’ for three years running, and British Sandwich Maker of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
It also supplies wholesale customers including Harrods, Allders Department Store and Thorntons.
On its website the company claims to deliver more than 50,000 Danish pastries, 15,000 croissants and 10,000 sausage rolls a week. Cakes, pastries and platters are also available to order online.
Founder Peter Coughlan remains chairman and managing director and, along with its 25 shops, the company operates three mobile lunch vans.
