High street bakery chain Greggs has worked with project management firm Clegg Food Projects to open up a 4,645sq m distribution centre in Enfield, North London.
The site was previously refurbished by another owner, but Cleggs Food Project, which provides consultancy, design, engineering and construction for the food industry, has worked extensively with Greggs to complete an extension and redesign of the distribution warehouse.
Greggs said the new centre would “improve efficiency and increase capacity for delivery of bakery products as well as shop consumables such as coffee cups and paper bags to Greggs’ stores in the south”.
John Moxon, business development director at Clegg Food Projects, said that it had been a significant project for both companies and hoped that its relationship with the bakery chain would continue.
“We’ve been working with Greggs for more than 15 years and have delivered projects across the UK from Glasgow down to the south east,” he said.
“The distribution centre at Enfield has been developed from an existing distribution facility that has been extended, altered and refurbished to meet Greggs’ needs and marks our 19th project with the food-on-the-go retailer.”
This month, Greggs gave away its latest Christmas release – the Festive Bake – free of charge in stores across the nation.
