Howell House, the cakes and biscuits division of Irish company Irwin’s Bakery, has secured a £400,000 export deal with Tesco and Asda.

The bakery will supply 650,000 packs of its Jammy and Snowy Joeys to 120 Asda stores in Great Britain and 110 Tesco stores in Scotland, annually.

Fifty Tesco stores will also list its Fruit Queen Buns.

Chris Moore, national account manager, Irwin’s Bakery, said: “Irwin’s supplies Asda and Tesco with around 15 million products each year. Not only is this contract win a seal of approval for the quality and taste of our Howell products, but it also strengthens our already strong partnerships with both retailers.”

Irwin’s is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Howell House was acquired by Irwin’s Bakery in 2006 in order to introduce a specialist ‘handmade’ cakes and biscuits manufacturing division to the overall business.
