Parsons Bakery is to re-open eight former Bath Bakery shops closed after the business ceased trading.
Parsons Bakery confirmed to British Baker that the eight shops will open in the next few days and all previous workers will be offered their jobs back.
Last week, Parsons had planned to complete the purchase of Bath Bakery’s eight shops, but in the same afternoon, Bath Bakery had ceased trading and all staff were made redundant.
A statement released on behalf of Nick Parsons & Tom Curling said: “Since Friday, we have been on a mission to save the eight shops. There has been a tidal wave of support from the customers, the staff and the landlords of the shops, which has really spurred us on.
“After a tortuous few days, I am delighted to be able to say that we have just signed the papers and will be re-opening all those eight shops within a week & will be offering jobs to all those who had been employed at those shops.”
The eight shops that will be open will be:
- Corsham
- Chelsea Road
- Weston
- Foxhill
- Odd Down
- Westbury
- Frome
- Midsomer Norton
Parsons has promised to “bring the joy of artisan bakery” back to local communities. Parson and Curling added that they are “excited to now be in Bath where they really hope they will be well accepted.”
Parsons has previously re-opened the Bath Bakery in Bradford On Avon.
Poppleton & Appleby were appointed as administrators for Bath Bakery on the 10 January. They told British Baker that the remaining assets, including the machinery and equipment at the company’s two production facilities will be "disposed of during the course of the ensuing administration".
