Lancashire pastry chef Michael Lambert has spent more than £1,500 on tattooing his patisserie creations on to his right arm.
Lambert, from Accrington, loves the cakes he makes so much he has had them tattooed all over his right arm – he is a pastry chef for Manchester’s fashionable Neighbourhood restaurant.
His arm is decorated with tattoos of his pink macarons, a Battenberg cake, a chocolate tart, a soufflé and even a large vanilla slice.
There are also pineberries and strawberries on the arm, alongside a chocolate cupcake with a cherry on top.
Lambert said: “Desserts are my life, this is my passion, it’s what I do for a living and it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. The tattoos have been done over 13 months and, £1,500 later, I’ve got all my cakes on there.”
Lambert perfected his art at Michelin-starred restaurant Northcote Manor and the award-winning Freemasons at Wiswell before joining the Neighbourhood restaurant group earlier this year.
This week he helped relaunch the restaurant’s Afternoon Tea offering, which includes his signature macarons with white chocolate ganache and the mini Battenberg that has become his most recent inking.
The Afternoon Tea includes chocolate éclairs, scones, mini lemon meringue pies, sandwiches, and Lambert’s favourites, macarons.
Lambert also has a tattoo tribute to his hero, Pierre Hermé, known as the godfather of macarons – he has PH drawn on his forearm.
