Seasoned professionals have confirmed moves to take up new roles at suppliers of baked goods, ingredients, and equipment.

Here is a round-up of appointments recently announced in the baking sector:

Susie Turan, head of product and innovation at Macphie

Food industry pioneer Turan (pictured above) will help facilitate the family-run ingredients manufacturer’s next phase of growth as its new head of product and innovation.

Known for creating freezer favourites like the Magnum Double, Solero Berry, and Vegan Carte D’Or, the London-born R&D specialist has over three decades of accomplishments in the food sector. This includes senior positions with Unilever, Genius Foods, and most recently Finsbury Food Group.

“Macphie is an absolute leader in its field for a reason so I’m thrilled to now be playing a part in that. The values of the brand and the opportunities within its product range instantly sang to me,” said Turan. Aberdeenshire-based Macphie holds B Corp accreditation, revealing its latest progress towards ESG goals earlier this year.

Having worked across Europe and the US, Turan is well placed to support Macphie’s push for global expansion and diversification of its product portfolio, noted the company. “Susie arrives with a wealth of experience, genuine passion, and exceptional leadership qualities. From the get-go, we’ve already seen Susie bring an abundance of value and fresh thinking to the firm,” commented Macphie CEO Andy Stapley.

The British food manufacturer – owner of bakery brands including Ginsters, Urban Eat, Soreen, and Dickinson & Morris – has announced Noble as the successor of current CFO Steve Bailey, who retires at the end of this year.

Samworth Brothers said Noble will also join its Group Executive Board, with a key focus to drive the continued modernisation of the business over the coming years.

Noble will see out the year as CFO and finance director at AB Sugar, a division of Associated British Foods, and has food industry experience both in the UK and overseas including stints with Genesee & Wyoming, McCormick, and Unilever.

Bailey was said to have helped steer and grow Samworth Brothers effectively over five years, including through recent unpredictable trading conditions. “With his own sense of humour and personable style, Steve moved us strongly forward in areas such as forecasting and planning, cash management, risk and commercial analysis, as well as providing leadership to IT and other support teams,” said group CEO Hugo Mahoney.

She is now tasked with working alongside AMF’s regional leaders and global finance team under the leadership of CEO Jason Ward to identify and execute opportunities that will enhance the company’s position in the bakery automation solutions sector.
