Family Business United (FBU) has announced Bradleys Bakery is North & Northern Ireland Family Business of the Year 2016.
The Family Business of the Year Awards are organised by FBU, a magazine and resource centre celebrating the family business sector. Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise UK family firms and highlight the contribution they make to the economy.
Paul Andrews, founder and managing director of FBU, said: “Bradleys Bakery is a fantastic family firm dating back to 1960, when the bakery was started by Alice Bradley, at a time when it was not easy for women to launch a business.
“Nevertheless, her dream was realised and it was Alice’s leadership and passion at the forefront of the bakery that has helped to create the great family business that it remains today.”
The judges were said to be impressed with their innovation, investment and support, and the way that they have evolved as a business, “to succeed in a very competitive market at a time when many other businesses are disappearing from the high street”.
