Burton’s Biscuit Company has appointed a development team and international business director to support continued growth in domestic and international markets.
Topps executive Stephen Carson will take on the role as the company looks to ramp up its international expansion programme.
Carson was previously the general manager of international confectionery at The Topps Company. He will take a seat on Burton’s board.
A team will create an engineering strategy focused on ‘proactive maintenance’ of the brand.
Carson’s appointment follows an announcement last September that international sales had grown at a compound annual growth rate of 7%.
Simon Bourne, director of operations at Burton’s Biscuit Company, said: “We have invested over £40m in our manufacturing operations in just three years which has resulted in increased use of highly advanced technology, such as control rooms at each of our sites. The creation of this team is reflective of the company’s continued commitment to excellence in engineering, which is driven both by developing talent, and the practices and technology we deploy.”
