United Biscuits’ (UB) Carlisle factory has been flooded by over a metre of water in the wake of Storm Desmond and staff have been told to stay home.
As reported in City A.M., the factory in Church Street, Caldewgate produces a range of McVitie’s biscuits and employs 600 people.
The factory has been flooded before, when floods in 2005 caused millions of pounds’ worth of damage and caused the production of biscuits to be moved elsewhere as the clean-up dragged on for months.
