European Process Plant (EPP) has promoted Ged McBride to the role of area sales manager.
McBride has been working as a service engineer for the business and has been involved in installing and commissioning equipment in craft, plant and supermarket in-store bakeries, as well as providing service and engineering support.
“I am very much looking forward to the challenges my new role offers and working in partnership with bakers and food manufacturers in order to help them to make the right decisions when it comes to investing in new plant and equipment,” said McBride.
“Because of my background I will probably be always pointing out that, however attractive the price a new piece of machinery appears to be, customers should always take step back and ask how it is going to be maintained and supported.”
EPP director Steve Merritt believed McBride would be a major asset to the sales team. “His time spent as one of our service engineers has given him an unrivalled, detailed knowledge of our product range, from silos and mixers to bread and roll plant, ovens, packaging machinery and blast freezers," he said.
Earlier this month, EPP reacted to the BBC’s investigative programme Watchdog’s shaming of Asda over its unhygienic baskets.
