Bakery brand Genius Gluten Free has scooped the Ones to Watch award at the 19th annual Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 awards.
The Fast Track 100 celebrates the best of British entrepreneurship, bringing together the founders and directors of the UK’s private companies with the fastest-growing sales. The Ones to Watch award, sponsored by Virgin, recognises the up-and-coming UK company with the strongest sales growth and potential for further success.
The award comes as Genius is targeting £65m sales in 2016, having acquired a new production facility from Chapel Foods to expand its frozen free-from offering. Genius has a 27% value share of free-from bakery in Britain (IRI Worldwide MAT to 18 June 2016), with over one million customers now buying the brand (Kantar Worldpanel 52 w/e 3 January 2016).
Genius CEO Roz Cuschieri said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Genius. We are delighted that our hard work and potential for further growth has been recognised by such a prestigious organisation.”
Genius was launched in 2009 by founder and product director Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne and now employs more than 600 people. It supplies gluten-free bread, rolls, crumpets, pancakes, croissants, pains au chocolat, brioches, pies and pastry to a number of countries and is the gluten-free category leader in the UK.
In April, the company outlined an ambitious international growth plan.
