Greencore is recruiting for 200 new jobs at its Manton Wood site in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
The pre-packed sandwich manufacturer, which supplies the likes of Marks & Spencer, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, had been hit by Covid-19 restrictions but said the lockdown exit and warmer summer months had led to ‘increased demand’.
The new positions are part of a wider recruitment effort across all the business’s manufacturing sites, which include nearly 300 new roles in the Fenland region and 40 new jobs in Crosby.
“This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and we offer some fantastic colleague benefits, as well as flexible working hours to suit people’s work-life balance,” a Greencore spokesperson said.
The pandemic and subsequent lockdown measures had hit the company’s food-to-go sales.
Q1 figures published in Greencore’s trading report for the 13 weeks to 25 December 2020 showed a drop in revenue of 21.7%, with food-to-go revenue standing at £188.5m.
This followed a trading update published in October, which revealed the company’s food-to-go sales were down 22% for the year to 25 September 2020.
At the time, Greencore said the lockdown-induced impact had been significant but added it had not been as marked as the effect from the initial restrictions imposed in March 2020.
