Oldham-based business Taylors Bakers has shut its doors after more than 55 years. The main reason cited for the closure was that the owners could not make enough money to keep the company going.
The bakery announced its closure on a notice on its shop window and on its Facebook page.
The notice stated: “To all our customers, it is with deep regret and sadness that Taylors Bakers will stop trading on 30 July at 2pm.”
Loyal customers from the area left several comments from the post on the social media site to express their sadness.
Jackie Meyrick commented: “Sad indeed to see the end of this traditional baker’s. There’s not many left like Taylors Bakers.
“I used to call in with the kids on the way home from school.”
Michael Frain said: "We are so sad you are ceasing trading. Rachel and I are going to miss all your beautiful products.”
The business was set up in 1964 by Ian Taylor and taken over by his son David after his retirement. They said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and support.”
