French bakery manufacturer Norac Foods Group has appointed Jean-Pascal Allemand as managing director of its UK subsidiary, effective from October.
Allemand has been with the family-owned firm since 1998, working on its flagship La Boulangère brand and serving as export director for the past two decades where he helped achieve year-on-year growth, according to Norac.
He brings 36 years of experience in the food business to his latest role, having previously worked as a distribution manager for bakery supplier Jacquet Brossard as well as was regional director for tinned tuna brand Petit Navire.
Allemand said he was very proud to be taking on the management of the Norac Group’s UK operation. “We have a talented 27-strong team, who are motivated and determined to achieve success,” he commented.
“With the support of our 23 factories in France, my goal is to secure and expand the presence of our products with our retail partners. Our focus is on strategically growing our brands in the UK, where we know British shoppers already love our offerings.”
He is now tasked with developing Norac’s continental morning goods category – including brioche rolls, burger buns and muffins, pains au chocolat, croissants, baguettes, crêpes, madeleines, cakes, and pancakes – for retailers in the UK.
The La Boulangère Selection range of all-butter, long-life pastries and brioche are currently stocked at the likes of Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Ocado, and Tesco.
Norac also produces filled crêpes under its brand Whaoo, which rolled out a new bright and appealing packaging design featuring a cartoon giraffe in the Spring to help drive stand-out on shelf.
Several other bakery businesses have named leadership changes in recent months including MD appointments of Julia Banton at Roberts Bakery, Guy Meakin at Krispy Kreme UK & Ireland, and Mat Finch at Cornish Bakery.
