A cheese toastie delivery service is to reach mailboxes very soon, after hundreds of backers helped crowdfund the concept.
The Cheese Postie business received 308 backers, who pledged £3,809 – 190% more than targeted - via the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
The business will deliver a box with different artisan breads, cheese and fillings upon subscription, with a toastie bag to complete the sandwich at home. Each cheese postie box will be tailored to the cheese-lover’s needs.
Danny Jennings and Dave Rotheroe founded the service. They said: “So here we are funded almost double our original goal and with more than 300 of you eagerly awaiting melted cheesy wins! We want to say a massive thank you for all the comments, to everyone for being part of cheese history and helping us get Cheese Postie off the ground!”
Kev Dickinson, one of the project backers commented: "Thought this was genius from the start, pleased to be a part of it. Well played lads."
The duo plan to start delivering the first cheese toastie assembly kits “late August/ early September”.
Some of the Cheese Postie flavours on offer include:
- French Onion Soup - made with gruyère and caramelised onion
- Cheddar and Chorizo
- Pepperjack and Pickle
- Cream Cheese and Balsamic Blueberry
- Chocolate Cheesecake
- Stilton and Raspberry
- Brie, Toffee and Banana.
