Ingredients company British Bakels has announced the appointment of Ade Abass as general manager, following the departure of former MD Ian Dobbie to Délifrance.

Abass, who has been promoted internally from the position of financial controller, will report to Armin Ulrich, Bakels Worldwide Group Chairman.

Although involved primarily in finance since joining British Bakels in 2002, Abass also project managed the company’s recent £7m factory extension and implemented an IT system to integrate all areas of the business including manufacturing, supply chain management and customer relationship management.

“I’m delighted to be given this opportunity. Last year was a record one in terms of both sales and profits and I am looking forward to leading our highly talented commercial and production teams to drive growth still further,” said Abass.

Armin Ulrich, group chairman of Bakels, added: “Ade has a wealth of experience at Bakels and has played a key role in our growth of the past few years. He will be ably supported by a first class team and I am confident he will maintain our double digit annual growth.”
