Scottish bakers Aulds is consulting with its 150 employees at its Greenock factory about a possible move to a new manufacturing facility 16 miles away in Inchinnan, as its current plant is outdated.
In a statement the company said that all the staff had been guaranteed continuity of employment if the plan to relocate its fresh day bakery operation goes ahead. Aulds’ new frozen foods factory opened in Inchinnan last year. The company employs 120 people at Inchinnan and a further 330 people at the firm’s 43 retail outlets in Scotland.
Managing director Alan Marr said: "Both management and staff at our Greenock operation have known for some time that the current factory is dated and has an inefficient layout compared to modern standards. To compete effectively and to provide a foundation for future growth, we must move to a new site, where we can grow the business."
