Over 20 bakery businesses have so far confirmed their support to help raise money for National Cupcake Week’s partner charity CLIC Sargent, which supports children with cancer.
Among them are craft bakery chains Simmons Bakers and Greenhalgh’s, while ingredients supplier Puratos and bakery supplier Rich Products have also pledged their support.
Simmons is giving a 20p donation from the sales of four different cupcakes at all its 31 bakeries. It will also be displaying the information leaflets and making pin badges available to purchase.
Peter Williams, bakery director, said Simmons had produced four cupcakes especially for the Week. “We are hoping to sell as many as we can to help raise money for this valuable service.” The bakery has also been in touch with its local radio station to promote what it is up to.
Sandra Ogden, head of Greenhalgh’s retail operations, said the baker would be donating 5p from every cupcake sold in its shops during National Cupcake Week, “which is a great way to help make a difference to children with cancer”. “The funds raised will go directly towards providing support to these children and their families,” she said.
