Bako North Western is to host its second Bakery Challenge on 2 June 2011.

Categories include: 400g Multiseed Loaf (any shape); 6 x Assorted Commercial Fancies (flour confectionery); 2 x 200g Short Crust Traditional Pasties (meat-filled); 8” Square Celebration Cake (traditional or novelty, iced and decorated); Battenberg Cake (any size); and the Innovation Category: Cluster Cake.

Last year’s event saw almost two hundred items submitted, however the wholesaler promises this year will be even bigger and better.

Bako NW has also decided to devote an extra day of judging to ‘Bakers of the Future’. Bakery students from surrounding colleges have been asked to submit their entries for the Battenberg and Innovation categories, with a student winner to be announced for each.
