Dragon backs new artisan bakery online: 11/3/2013

Stockport-based Bramhall Bakery won the weekly Small Business Sunday scheme, run by star of BBC One’s Dragons’ Den Theo Paphitis, which saw the bakery firm being endorsed by the dragon on Twitter as well as through a dedicated website. "This boost from Theo will help us move the business to the next level," said director Joanne Peters.

Action for Children’s call to bakers: 11/3/2013

Gluten-free brand Fria expands UK presence: 12/3/2013

The Scandinavian bakery business revealed it was stocking its free-from products in a further 40 stores to help increase its presence in the UK market. Fria is currently being supplied via Goodness Foods, a wholesaler for the health food trade.

Cocomaya to open Heathrow pop-up shop: 13/3/2013

The London-based chocolatier and artisan baker said it was launching a temporary outlet in the airport’s Terminal 5 this Easter, with plans to operate until the summer. The 200sq ft shop will sell a range of food, including its Vienna-style pastries, cakes and sandwiches.

CSM downgrades value of bakery business: 14/3/2013

The Netherlands-based firm highlighted the value of its Bakery Supplies Europe (BSEU) business had fallen by €165m (£143.2m), as part of its latest financial update this week. During the full-year trading for 2012, CSM’s BSEU division saw sales volumes slide by 2%.

"The new facility is part of the future and the growth of Fletchers Bakeries. It’s a great tonic to the staff here who can really see the progress that’s been made at the business," said general manager Peter Williams.
