Bakery students submitted some 694 entries, in bread and confectionery categories, including Live Piping, Innovation and Morning Goods, at the student conference in Blackpool last weekend.

Winners included Ian Sutherland from Blackburn, who picked up the Horton Trophy and Sarah Hughes from Leicester who won the Gerry Cup.

Supplier and conference suppor-ter California Raisins announced the results of its Future Baker awards at the conference, with a team from Tameside College, Manchester, winning a trip to the Richemont School in Switzerland.
