Mark Biggs and his mother Sally, of Bigg’s Bakery in Littlehampton, West Sussex, raised over £4,000 for charity the Children’s Trust between September and Christmas.

They held fund-raising events including a jacket potato supper and a raffle, to give eight children living at the Children’s Trust’s Hawthorn House in Tadworth, Surrey, a Christmas to remember.

The Children’s Trust is a charity providing education and therapy for children with complex health needs. Bakers also raise money for the charity through the annual National Doughnut Week.

After finding out what the children wanted for Christmas - an exercise machine and an adjustable computer table - Mark and Sally wrote to companies, who donated raffle prizes and sponsored a lucky square board.

"We also had collections on the bakery counter and hosted a potato supper in December. It was held in a church hall in for 90 people, who paid £6," said Sally. "Bako London and BFP were particularly fantastic. We managed to raise £4,037 in total."
