Edinburgh cake-maker Cuckoo’s Bakery has created a gruesome range of limited-edition cupcakes for Halloween.
The cakes are inspired by the bakery’s self-penned horror story, The Dundas St. Experiment 1827...a Cuckoo tale!. The story is set in the early nineteenth century and is about the creation of a plague by the mad Professor Rothesay.
Each of the six flavours focuses on a key object from the story, from Eye Witness, a strawberry and white chocolate cupcake topped with an eyeball, to Trouble and Squeak, a dark chocolate and raspberry creation decorated with a dead mouse.
Graham Savage, co-owner of the bakery, said: “We are excited to bring a Cuckoo Halloween to Edinburgh with our spooky range of unique cakes. Our customers love our seasonal cakes and this year we wanted to push the boundaries and create something unusual and gory.”
