Foodamentalists is to close its shop in Middlewich to concentrate on the wholesale market.
The award-winning gluten- and wheat-free bakery will close its premises on Saturday 21 December after only 13 months of trading.
Stevan Taylor, managing director, said: “In 2013 the wholesale side of our business has really taken off. Our luxury pies are now available in the food hall at Selfridges’ London store, and a worldwide health store supplies distributor is helping our baking mixes reach far-flung destinations, including Iceland and Hong Kong.
“Concentrating on selling our products wholesale on such a large scale requires a lot of my time. Plus we need more space to prepare the produce to fulfil our wholesale commitments, not to mention storage space for the ingredients.
“Closing the shop will help to free up the necessary time and space, and give me the opportunity to grow the business even more, focusing on our wholesale customers.”
The company’s range of pies and baking mixes will still be available to purchase online and at its regular market stalls in Knutsford and Macclesfield.
The business won best Free-from Innovative Brand of the Year in Foods You Can’s Free-From People’s Choice Awards 2013, earlier this year.
