Absolute Treats, National Cupcake Champion 2011, is to appear on BBC1’s The One Show tonight (19 September), teaching one of the show’s presenters how to make cupcakes.
The BBC programme has been showing clips, throughout this week, of its presenters learning how to make something that would then be entered into a country fair.
Virginia Buls, co-owner of the bakery and tea rooms, and mother of Cupcake Champion Jennifer, said the producers contacted her daughter, because she was the Cupcake Champion at the time the idea was being commissioned.
Jennifer showed presenter Matt Allwright how to make her award-winning vegan free-from coconut and lime cupcakes, and he also made a conventional recipe cupcake.
“They were here filming for a whole day. You can’t buy that sort of publicity, and it was good fun,” said Virginia Buls.
Other food masterclasses in the series include making jams and preserves and growing radishes.
National Cupcake Week runs all this week (17-23 September), to find out more visit www.nationalcupcakeweek.co.uk.
