The Handmade Cake Company has launched whoopie pies in two varieties: lemon berry with a cream cheese filling and chocolate with a buttercream filling.

The Berkshire firm supplies the cakes frozen with a shelf-life of eight months; they defrost in two hours and, once defrosted, keep for two days. They come in a mixed box containing 16 whoopie pies, eight of each flavour.

MD Parry Hughes Morgan said: "This is part of an ongoing strategy to adopt more North American-themed sweet snacks."
