A number of bakery manufacturers and food-to-go businesses have been recognised for their efforts to manufacture healthier and more nutritional products.

The Health & Vitality Honours list, launched by the Footprint Media Group, will highlight the efforts of food businesses that promote a change in the culture of consumption and the manufacturing of healthier products, as well as the implementation of healthier programmes in cost and profit sectors.

Businesses that have been recognised include food-to-go business Pret A Manger, along with foodservice firms 3663 and Brakes.

Matt Dawson, sports personality and one of the judges for the Health & Vitality Honours, said: “I firmly believe the foodservice industry has an enormous responsibility for its constituents’ health, in both the cost and profit sectors; whether it’s restaurant dining on the high street or contract catering within the workplace.

“Foodservice is a sector that has the power to influence a healthy culture and drive the well-being agenda, and I’m delighted that the Health & Vitality Honours ‘Roll of Honour’ contains catering organisations, as well as major suppliers and wholesalers which service the industry.”

A dedicated lunch will recognise the above businesses, and many others, as part of the Footprint Health & Vitality Honours Roll. It will take place on 18 January 2013 in The Long Room at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, London.
