Sandwich chain Pret a Manger is rolling out hot wraps to its 145 stores after a successful trial.

Its new warm range also includes savoury croissants and soup. Commercial manager Simon Hargraves said: "We’ve been working on a hot food product for the past three years but never found anything that worked. Ciabattas and paninis didn’t fit in with the Pret offer as you have to wait while they’re cooked - we wanted a self-service model."

The three initial launches are: Beanos Brunch, made with bacon, sausage, egg mayo and baked beans (£3.25); Jalapeno Chicken (£3.50); and Hot Salt Beef (£3.50). All are made with soft tortilla wraps.

The hot wraps are made on the premises, wrapped and cooked in brown paper and kept warm for up to an hour. Customers pick them up from a hot cabinet at 10 shops, while the other 135 stores will introduce cabinets by early next year.
