Paul Morrow, managing director of British Bakels, has appointed Ian Dobbie as new managing director designate from 1 October. Dobbie, who currently heads up the UK division of Délifrance, takes over full responsibility at Bakels from 1 January.
Morrow said: "Ian has more than 20 years’ experience in technical and commercial operations and general management roles in the baking industry. He has a successful track record of growing a manufacturing business, serving bakery, super- market and foodservice custo- mers. He is ideally equipped to lead British Bakels in the next stage of its development."
Dobbie described Bakels as a "great business". He said: "I’ve known it for a long time and I think it has bags and bags of potential. I’ve dealt with Bakels at several of the companies I’ve worked for and have always been impressed at the levels of service from the people there. I know that they are fundamentally a good business."
Morrow will be moving up into a global role within Bakels, which operates worldwide, but will still be based in the UK.
Délifrance is looking both internally and externally for a replacement for Dobbie. Com-mercial controller Alan Mouter and financial controller Richard Turner will head up the company on an interim basis.
