== Egg mark on-pack ==

Manufacturer Pork Farms has become the first major retail brand to display the British Lion egg products mark on-pack. The move follows Pork Farms’ decision to use 100% British Lion egg products across its Scotch egg and snack egg range. Head of marketing Andy Napthine said the firm was also looking to attract new customers with a packaging redesign and the introduction of new variants.

== Gist seals M&S deal ==

Logistics provider Gist has signed a 10-year contract, worth around £2bn, with Marks & Spencer (M&S), continuing its relationship of 35 years. It will also be responsible for the delivery of all frozen and bread products to M&S stores.

== Iodised salt reminder ==

Australian bakers have been reminded that they will need to replace the salt they currently use in bread-making with iodised salt, from 9 October 2009. Food Standards Australia New Zealand has issued an Australian User Guide for Mandatory Iodine Fortification to inform bakers of the change being implemented to combat iodine deficiency in these countries.

== Sandwich awards ==

Princi in London won the Bakery Sandwich Shop of the Year Award at this year’s Sammies. Highly commended was Wenzel’s, Watford. Benugo won the Specialist Sandwich Chain accolade and Greencore took top prize as the British Sandwich Association’s Sandwich Manufacturer of the Year.

== Cool move to market ==

Mövenpick ice cream is targeting the bakery, sandwich and café markets with its range of ice creams, which are free from artificial additives and colours. The Swiss firm, headed by MD Mike Godwin, has also launched a new logo, POS material and support packages.
