Doughnut Week date
The date of National Doughnut Week 2010 has been announced as 8-15 May. The fundraising event, sponsored by CSM UK (previously BakeMark UK) raises money for The Children’s Trust through the sale of doughnuts. Bakers give a donation to the charity for every doughnut sold.
Fox’s up Rocky sales
Fox’s attracted an additional 1.4m households to its Rocky biscuit bar brand, following a £3m campaign to relaunch the biscuit, claimed the firm. The Rocky British Biscuit Advisory Board campaign, launched in September 2009, ran for eight weeks, resulting in a value sales increase of 65%.
Warburtons cuts CO²
Warburtons is to become the first truck operator in Britain to trail a new low-emissions tractor unit from Mercedes-Benz. The 4x2 Econic tractor unit has a low-entry cab with a low-emission, gas-powered engine. It is on a six-month trial with Warburtons. The vehicle produces 20% less CO² than a diesel vehicle.
Scotland award set
The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards will take place on Thursday 6 May 2010 in Forres. The awards include a bakery and cereal-based category, as well as production innovation, product of the year and business of the year categories. Deadline is 22 February for product categories and 6 March for others. See:

New Epos in Costa
Simon Vardy, owner of nine Costa Coffee franchise stores across Greater Manchester, has installed a new electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) system across his shops. Installed by WRS Systems, it comprises Toshiba hardware with Datasym POS software.
