Raven flies to Tiptree

Raven Patisserie changed its name to Tiptree Patisserie on 1 August 2010, following the purchase of 100% of its shares by Wilkin and Sons, which manufactures Tiptree conserves, in April this year. The Witham-based patisserie firm had been working to rebrand its most popular lines, and decided the name change would bring additional commercial advantages.

CSM’s sales rise 19%

CSM has announced its second-quarter sales were up by around 19% to E771.7m (£639.1m). The firm said that, within its Bakery Supplies division, growth in core countries such as the UK and Germany was not enough to compensate for declining sales in Southern and Eastern European countries.

Duchy updates

Organic bakery products, including Monmouth Tart, Cambridge Burnt Cream and Bakewell Tart, are part of a relaunch of the Duchy Originals brand by Waitrose next month. The line will also include scones, shortbread, muffins and a range of breads.

Local newspaper The Leader said that he closed the 112-year-old business, with 10 retail shops and a bakery in Coedpoeth, after failing to find a buyer and with no one in the family willing to take it on.

Equipment sale

An auction sale of bakery equipment will take place at Tees Valley Bakery in Middlesbrough on 15 September. The firm has invested £750,000 in recent years, but has struggled in the downturn. Pro Auction will handle the sale.
