Speedy fame
Speedy’s Sandwich Bar in London has become a tourist destination after featuring in the BBC1 series Sherlock, according to Yahoo! Travel. The shop, although half a mile from Baker Street, has been used as the exterior of Sherlock Holmes’ flat, and has prompted hundreds of fans to flock to the site.
Sky-high biscuits
Stag Bakeries’ Stornoway Water Biscuits were picked by Cook School Scotland for the cheeseboard, for Festive In The Sky, as part of the Edinburgh Festival. For the month of August a 22-seater luxury table is being raised 100 feet above Princes Street Gardens, with top chefs cooking throughout the month.
100th celebration
Baker Perkins is celebrating, having delivered its 100th Multitex4 dough moulder. The machine is also being introduced to the North American market, as part of a forming range that can operate without the use of dusting flour a method conventionally used in the US, announced the firm.
Innovative Lunch!
Lunch! the trade show for the food-to-go sector is taking place from 30 September 1 October at Old Billingsgate, London. New for this year is an Innovation Zone, which has been specifically designed to promote new products from smaller suppliers and emerging start-ups.
