Lanlard takes to TV
Cake Boy owner and master patissier Eric Lanlard is to host a new TV show on Channel 4. The series is about to go into pre-production, and will consist of 10 weekly programmes, each 30 minutes long, loosely based around Lanlard’s latest book Home Bake.
Apprentice premises
As many viewers of the third episode of The Apprentice (20 October) noticed, The London Bread & Cake Co offered up its premises for the bakery challenge. Filming from 10am to midnight, its staff were on-hand to offer behind-the-scenes help and training, although MD David Hall said the apprentices "couldn’t even deposit muffins with a piping bag".
Logistics expansion
Logistics firm Norbert Dentressangle has completed its acquisition of Schneider Logistics freight forwarding activity in the US and China, enabling it to offer its European customers expanded coverage across the supply chain. Norbert’s customers include: Lantmännen Unibake, Speedibake and Brakes.
Baker made Fellow
Jefta Kon Lakovic, chief executive of Arnaouti Pitta Bread Bakery, Herts, has been elected a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The professional institution is involved across many diverse industries, including bakery.
