The board of Greencore has said it does not intend to make a revised offer for Northern Foods. For some time, it said, it has believed in the strategic merits of consolidation in the UK convenience food sector and in the strong logic of a combination between Greencore and Northern Foods, but that a revised offer could not be concluded on terms delivering strong enough returns to Greencore shareholders.

Cranswick success

 

Sandwich and meat supplier Cranswick Foods is through to the final of the Bpex Foodservice Pork Product of the Year 2011. Cranswick came third in the pork and pastry category, held in association with British Baker, with its Sweet Chilli and Roasted Pepper Sausage Rolls. The final takes place on 24 March at Butchers’ Hall, London.
