Hovis results
Non-branded bakery sales were down 16.5% on the same period last year for Hovis, according to Premier Foods’ statement for the three months to 31 March 2011. Branded sales rose 1.6% in its Hovis division, while its milling arm saw branded sales up 15.2%.
Strong rise for Uniq
Chilled prepared food group Uniq has announced continued strong growth in its food-to-go operation, with overall group revenue up 6.8% for the year ended 31 December 2010.Increased sandwich business with Marks & Spencer its share rose to more than 65% helped the division to a 51% profit increase to £11m, with sales up 13% to £157m.
Costa breaches £50m
Costa Coffee has ramped up its operating profits by 38.4% in the financial year to 3 March 2011, to nudge over the £50m mark. Like-for-like sales were up 7.8%. Parent firm Whitbread announced plans to grow Costa store numbers by 15% around 300 new stores to 3,500 stores worldwide.
Change for Coultons
Wholesaler Coultons Bread has switched its banking facilities to help facilitate further growth. The firm supplies ’Bakestone’ products its own brand of bread, morning goods, rolls and confectionery and branded loaves to catering firms in the north.
