Sales rise for Lees

Lees Foods saw sales for the six months to June 2011 increase by 6% to £10.22m. The company, which makes Snowballs and Teacakes, said commodity prices remain high, although it was taking steps to mitigate these.

Canada Bread is up

Canada Bread’s bakery products group, which includes Maple Leaf, saw sales increase 4% in the second quarter, reflecting higher selling prices as a result of price increases implemented in the first half of 2011. In the UK, the firm has sold its bakery in Cumbria and closed its bakery in London this year, with production consolidated into sites in Maidstone and Walsall.

Bakeware accredited

Bakeware and non-stick coatings supplier Product Release Europe has implemented a business management and quality system that has been audited and accredited to ISO 9001, 2008 standards.

RGFC’s 21% boost

Increased demand for sugar and bakery ingredients has helped boost sales at The Real Good Food Company by 21% to £110m in the six months to 24 June 2011. Napier Brown is set to launch a range of new Whitworths products targeting the home baking market, while new Renshaw-branded products are also being rolled out.
